Material Insight Is Changing Shape - June 3, 2008

As of June 30, 2008, Material Insight will be changing shape. Today we are a small specialist team offering recruiting, marketing and product management services. By the end of June, Material Insight will narrow our offering, support a new startup, and go in deep as agents of other tech startup successes.

Techbent – a rare find recruitment company - is starting up!  Led by Jennifer Aubin and joined by Courtney Sproule, Techbent will carry forward Material Insight's recruiting business. Anyone who's recruited talent with Material Insight has likely met Jennifer and Courtney and knows their reputation for scouting hard to find talent with startup affinity. The Techbent team will keep you posted.

Gwynn is joining Gwabs - the Cambrian House desktop to desktop gaming team – honouring her standout creative talent and gaming passion.

Shelley is continuing to steward market traction at Cambrian House as president, and Claudia is joining Tynt to help build out their brand and marketing. Claudia's also expecting a baby girl in mid-September, and Gwynn a girl in early September… So lots starting up!

Why has Material Insight decided to evolve from being a specialist consulting team? It's a natural progression for a company led by founders driven by a desire to materially impact Calgary's emerging technology community. We started doing it through services to 50 clients. Since our startup in 2003, we've seen significant and sustainable growth in the tech sector. There's momentum and Material Insight will live on as a support agent… sponsoring and directing STIRR events, helping to nurture The Wired West movement, speaking, being a media resource, striving to blog and share knowledge in articles you, and continuing as generous connectors.

Our mission remains the same, to champion breakthrough tech in Calgary, just our method is shifting.

What about the services we get from Material Insight – who will help us out now?

To support you going forward, we'll introduce you to the people and service providers we recommend. You can pick your new partners and we'll support in the hand-off to make it simple.

What happens next?

  • Now until June 30 - Business As Usual - Material Insight will operate as usual and any project commitments in place will be fulfilled.
  • Within next 2 weeks - Meet the new guys - We'll be in touch with you to introduce you to the new service providers who can take over where we are leaving off. The Techbent crew will say hello too.
  • Material Insight Website will evolve - to reflect our going in deep evolution, and continued support of the local tech scene, we'll be renovating our own website. We'll keep you posted on that too.

Great changes often come with a little whiplash. We worked hard to be exceptional so we understand if you expect to miss us a little ;   ) That said, we commit to all of you to leave you in good hands, and continue to serve you as agents of tech success in the community and at Techbent, Tynt and Cambrian House too.
